This is not an ink blotter but a close relative from that era, a calendar notepad. These are similar in size (6″ x 3 1/4″) to ink blotters and equally collectible. Freeman Elliott’s work was featured on these calendars, but I have not seen his work on ink blotters.

Technically this is a Gil Elvgren pin-up that has likely been “overpainted” by Vaughan Bass, something he was hired to do by the Louis F. Dow Co. when Elvgren left to work for competitor Brown & Bigelow. The original Elvgren pin-up was titled No Stares.
